"I listed my first item just to clear space. Three months later, reselling was paying my rent." — Priya, 23, Lalitpur
Priya Manandhar downloaded Troverve to buy a secondhand textbook. Eight months later, she's one of our top-rated sellers in the Kathmandu Valley, with over 300 completed sales and a 4.9-star rating.
The first sale
Her first listing was a denim jacket she'd bought three years earlier and never worn. She filmed it in her bedroom using her phone propped against a stack of books, and priced it at NPR 1,200. It sold within six hours. 'I couldn't believe it,' she says. 'I made more from that jacket than I expected and the buyer was happy. That was it — I was hooked.'
Scaling up
Within a month, Priya had listed 40 items from her own wardrobe. When those sold out, she started sourcing from Thamel's import stores and her university friends. She now does a weekly buying trip every Saturday and lists new items every Sunday morning — a routine that has become her full-time business.
